The historic residence of the Bourbon royal dynasty, the Royal  Palace of Caserta was desired and commissioned by Charles Bourbon in 1752 with the aim  of representing all the magnificence of the royal house of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies,  of which Naples was the capital. Now a Unesco World Heritage Site along with the  Carolino Aqueduct and the San Leucio Belvedere, the Royal Palace of Caserta is one of the  highest representations of 18th-century European Baroque. Referring to the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles, the Palace of Caserta can in fact be  considered an Italian reproduction of it. Tourists will thus be guided on a tour of the  splendour of the eighteenth-century Baroque salons and royal flats. From the picture  galleries to the bedrooms, learning about their history, intrigues, architecture and the  paintings that portrayed their history and vicissitudes.  This will be followed by a visit to part of the Italian garden, the symmetrical garden style  of classical inspiration, following the pathway that follows the water course of the  Carolino aqueduct, from the royal palace to the Margherita fountain. It is punctuated by a  series of fountains, flower beds and statues depicting classical Greek mythology.
